Blocking is a Pain

September 28, 2009

Really. Not even funny. I soaked the hemlock in tepid water for half an hour, rolled it up with towels, stepped on it to remove the excess, brought it over to the spare bed (which I covered in towels), and started stretching and pinning.

I didn’t have blocking pins, just plain ‘ol sewing pins. (I am first and foremost a sewer at heart). I thought they would suffice, until I started working my way around the star. I’d pull it and since the pin heads were so small, the work would just slip off. I wasted about two hours of my time trying to make it work.

I’m just going to take it to my dry cleaners and have them steam that sucker.

I told myself I was going to finish this blanket, blocked and all, by Sunday evening. It is Sunday evening. The throw is on my bed, puckered and in a pitiful state.

I feel defeated.
